What do you mean I have to Start Dreaming???

The foundation of your Christian Success is going to be the dreams that you want to bring to life in your future that God has deposited in your heart. Most people, even many of your friends, and family, do not dream like they used to, because we all have been programmed that “dreamers are not realists.”

Oh yeah? Who sold you on THAT?

Dreams are the Reality of God and His Success Possibilites are endless.

We encourage you to dream again. It is Biblical to envision Biblical success.

Why?

Do you know what happens when you DREAM?

You “Dare (to) Reach Extraordinary Altitudes (&) Milestones.”

That is what God wants you to do- to Trust Him and reach for extraordinary altitudes and create new milestones for your Christian success that require His Holy help.

1) DARE. Dare to become someone. Nehemiah did. Esther did. David did. Paul did. Dare to go beyond where your friends are. Dare to prove everybody else wrong, who says that you cannot succeed! ALL things are possible through Christ! (Mark 10:27)

2) REACH. Stretch every part of your mind, heart, and soul, and reach for what you want in life and the desires of your heart, not what someone else wants to give you after they take their part. God WILL give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)

3) EXTRAORDINARY. Dare to reach for the Extraordinary Life! It is waiting on you! Walk in the Extraordinary! Think Extraordinary! Become Extraordinary- but only through the Holy Touch of God- because we serve an EXTRAORDINARY God! (Isaiah 37:16)

4) ALTITUDES. You MUST soar higher in life than you ever have with your dream through the Power of the Holy Spirit! The higher the Altitude, the more Magnetic the Pull of your Dream- and the more pleased God is! (Hebrews 11:6)

5) MILESTONES. Reach for Extraordinary, Life Changing Milestones! Most people do not ever plan on hitting Extraordinary Milestones in their life. Satan convinces them it will not happen. And because of that, they end up getting Millstones of Mediocrity hung around the neck of their future, dragging frustration and doubt all through their life. Jesus’ Yoke is easy! (Matthew 11:30)

Dreaming also is the basis for the WHY! WHY are you dreaming anyway?

“WHY” stands for “What Has You?”

Whatever has your heart, focus, passion, dreams, and desires, is your WHY for Godly Success. It could be your children, your family, yourself, your church or faith in God, or even making a difference in other’s lives, or all of the above. Your “WHY” is the driving force behind your business, and your dreams.

Jesus had a WHY- and His WHY was, and still is- YOU!

What Dream has your heart for your family and future?

Dreaming is simply the Art of Painting a VIVID Picture on the canvas in your mind with God’s Paint Brush, and letting that become the MASTERPIECE of Change in your life.

Turn your “DreamLight” on… dust off your dream machine, and crank it up, and let His DreamLight shine on your future once more. Your Dreams CAN and WILL come true… but first the Light of Hope and Possibility for Christian Success must shine in your heart! And then you shine that light on your friends and family and get them dreaming with you!

Jesus was and still is - a Divine Dreamer. Let Him pour His Spirit into you, to help you achieve the Success Dreams you have for your Christian Success.

Secondly, he breaks things down in an easy to understand, easy to apply method that anyone can follow and relate to. I’m reading a few of his other books, and he has fast become my favorite author.

Love is the Killer App

Tim, an executive at Yahoo!, talks about getting the people you work with and for to love you, by sharing your knowledge and your network, in ways that add value for all people. I like to think of myself as a “lovecat” and if you read this book, maybe you’ll see why, and/or become a lovecat yourself.

It’s Your Ship

This book is the prequel to Built to Last (another great book), and tells about how the best companies got to where they were, in some very quantifiable ways. I’m amazed any manager doesn’t read this to learn how to be the best. And Jim’s website has some great clips about the different things that you need in order to be GREAT! I would encourage everyone to read this book, think about it, and then get the book on CD and listen to Jim read the book, and think more about it. Wow!

First, Break all the Rules
Marcus Buckingham and Curt Coffman
This is how the world’s best managers SHOULD manage…by treating each player as an individual, by being unafraid to do something different, by BREAKING THE RULES! I took a class where we discussed this book, and believe me, this book will open your eyes to how you really can manage a team of unique people individually, if you’re willing to make the effort.

Ken Blanchard - especially Gung Ho!, Raving Fans, and the One Minute Manager series

More easy reading, with important lessons for all of us that are easy to take away, all jam packed into an easy to read format. I especially enjoy Gung Ho!, and am going to be implementing “The Way of the Beaver,” “The Spirit of the Squirrel,” and “The Gift of the Goose” on my team soon.

Quality leadership is a positive asset that is needed in every organization. Observe any successful club, committee or team and you will find a capable leader in each of these organizations. What makes a successful leader? Why do some leaders inspire confidence and have an innate ability to motivate while other “leaders” are mired in mediocrity?

Most successful leaders have received good leadership training as they have advanced in their careers. Here are three ideas that each organization can utilize to train their employees to become successful leaders:

The Individual Leader -There is a common notion that some people are born leaders. They are born with the skills and charisma that attracts others to follow them. That may be true, but that concept does not preclude anyone else from being a leader. Many people acquire leadership skills with time and experience. For example, a new employee might start a job at the bottom of the company and move up in time as they gain expertise and experience. The employee’s familiarity and understanding of the business gives them an edge for opportunity and promotion. Many organizations prefer to promote leadership roles from within their company, instead of betting on an unknown commodity.

The Collective Organization - Every member of an organization can serve an important role. An organization functions because members fulfill different roles that enable them to thrive. An organization will have a division of leaders and followers. Both parties serve together to fulfill the purpose of the organization. It is important that members be given opportunities to work together, build relationships, trust, and confidence in order to fulfill the mission of an organization.

The Training Provider - During grade school, I held a leadership role in our academic honors society. I, along with three other student leaders attended a leadership training camp at the start of the school year. At the camp we listened to motivational speakers and participated in a variety of activities, one of which was participating in a ropes course. The purpose of the course was to promote comradeship among our small group. Each individual in the group was able to contribute. Some of the brawnier members contributed strength, while some of the brainier members contributed ideas and strategy. The objective was achieved through communication, teamwork and a well-executed plan.

You didn’t captain the high school football team to the state championship? You didn’t create and head the grade school recycling program, saving thousands of old-growth trees? Despair not, with a little direction and the right resources you can still become an effective and capable leader.

What are the sharpest tools in your toolkit? Is it your business website or brochure? How about your press kits or pitch letter? Often solo entrepreneurs first think of a technological tool since technology allows us to “do more with less cost”. The truth is your sharpest tool is your mind which is where every action is first created. Consider the following ways to sharpen your best tool.

A Fish Tale

A favorite fish of many hobbyists is the Japanese carp, commonly known as the koi. The fascinating thing about the koi is that if you keep it in a small fish bowl, it will only grow to be 2 or 3 inches long. Put the koi in a larger tank and it will reach 6 to 10 inches. Put it in a large pond and it may get as long as a foot and a half. However, when placed in a huge lake where it can spread out, it has the potential to reach sizes up to 3 feet. The point is pretty clear. The size of this fish is directly proportional to the size of the pond. A comparable analogy can be made concerning people. Our growth is determined by the size of our world. Not the physical dimensions, but the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical opportunities we experience. Realizing that our growth comes from the inside, we better understand that that unless we expand who we are, we’ll always have what we’ve got. Think of it this way, SUCCESS BEGINS WITHIN.

Daniel Goleman, author of Emotional Intelligence, reported on this groundbreaking research conducted at the University of Kansas. What was discovered was this: People with high levels of hope share several attributes:

– They turn to friends for advice on how to achieve their goals.

– They tell themselves they can succeed at what they need to do.

– They believe that things will get better as time goes on.

– They are flexible enough to find different ways to get to their goals.

– If hope for one goal fades, they aim for another. Those low in hope tend to become fixated on one goal and persist even when they find themselves blocked.

– They show an ability to break a formidable task into specific, achievable chunks.

People who get a high score on the hope scale have had as many hard times as those with low scores, but have learned to think about it in a hopeful way, seeing a setback as a challenge, not a permanent failure.

This study proved what wise people knew all along - YOUR ATTITUDE AFFECTS YOUR ALTITUDE.

It’s All About Attitude

You hear that all the time, but what does it really mean?

– Expecting the best in everything–not the worst.

– Remaining upbeat–even if you get beat up.

– Seeing solutions in every problem–not problems in every solution.

– Believing in yourself–even if others believe you have failed.

– Holding on to hope–even if others say it is hopeless.

Here’s the good news: Positive attitudes can be learned. One of the fastest ways to transform our attitudes is with our language. These are the words you want to eliminate from your vocabulary: I can’t­. I don’t have the time. I’m afraid of. I doubt it . These are the words you want use more of every day: I can..I will make the time..I am confident. ­I expect the best. YOUR WORDS SHAPE YOUR ATTITUDE.

By definition a leaders leads a team to take action in favor of the vision.

The most well know methods for assessing leadership styles, such as DISC, have outlived their usefulness!

· Are leadership styles really captured in a neat questionnaire like DISC that measures Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Conscientiousness?

· Can we predict the leaders from the profile that DISC generates?

· Can we test great leaders and say people with the same profile will have similar success?

It seems the answer is less obvious.

We certainly need specific characteristics to be successful: we need a level of business acumen to deliver the results; we need a level of appreciation of others, to know who to surround ourselves with, to ensure our collective success; and, we need to be magnetic to attract others to the vision.

· For most of us the company will provide ample opportunity to gain business acumen, our key is to take advantage of it. Ask questions, seek mentoring by an experienced manager or leader you admire, change this person on a regular basis so you learn the many aspects of style and appreciation, to communicate the message widely.

· Many of us will have the opportunity to hire and fire. We can employ people we think will be good, work with them, develop them and begin to appreciate who will be successful, and more importantly, who will add to the success of the team.

· Rarely will the company offer the opportunity to learn how to be magnetic, what it means and how to command it. We need to develop this for ourselves. It needs to be our passionate commitment on every occasion, as the pearls of wisdom are hidden in strange places. To unlock our self-limiting unconscious patterning requires a ruthless honesty we must nurture, for it causes the pain of loss to release some things we have over identified with.

Leadership style is our characteristic expression of success. It’s not analyzing DISC styles and trying to emulate them: it is much more involved. It is marrying your own action-based values with the passion to deliver the vision.

The literature is full of individuals who have achieved success and the characteristics of their styles. Often this is extremely insightful about these people and the decisions they made.

However, it rarely enables us to move forward to what leadership style is current for now. Every window of opportunity requires a slightly different mix of characteristics.

If our style fits the current expectations of success, so much the better, if it doesn’t we will need more perseverance than others to join the ranks of leaders.

The characteristic style of leadership required for now is not something any one has ever been able to predict. Our discussions are always retrospective.

As such there is no template for success. The style of expression of some values correlate better with top leadership, some do not. However there is, in theory, a right time and place for everything and everyone.

Sustainable leadership is founded on a base of sincerity. Unless we can be sincere in our power, acceptance and wisdom we can’t attract others to share our vision. Without these allegiances, not much gets done that is original; we only get endorsed to continue the status quo.

For most leaders this is not what they thought they would be employed for!

To develop sincerity in both our conscious and unconscious patterning requires much discipline and time. Music is like this: to play an instrument well we must perfect our timing, fingering and technique until we are very, very good.

Then, and only then, we can allow our personal expression of the piece to shine, it is like we are getting our minds out of the way to manage the details, so that our spirit can shine forth. Others recognize this and are drawn to it and us.

Leadership is the same; it is our passionate commitment to the vision, despite the insoluble moments, that commands attention in others. When we demonstrate this, they seek to emulate us, join our team and align with us. If we are in our ego this can be flattering, however the leader is often so passionate about their ideas that they recognize us for our contribution to the vision.

Examples of commitment to the vision are best understood by context and analogy. We can use physical structures most easily. One of my favorite programs that shows commitment to the vision and success, is the engineering marvels program on pay TV.

Massive engineering feats are approached with enormous daring because some of the technologies required to deliver the product have not been created yet! They haven’t been tested, tried or costed and yet are essential ingredients!

Imagine having a vision of an aircraft and knowing it can be built, we just don’t know how yet. Physics tells us that as an aircraft doubles in seating capacity it quadruples in weight. In other words its fuel costs are double the current aircraft per passenger ratio.

We need to create new technologies to enable the aircraft to be lighter, more robust and provide improvements in fuel economy. Otherwise it won’t sell!

Imagine it is the major of Boston who backed building a tunnel under the city to link key arterial roads. The work began with ‘conditioning the soil to be tunneled’. This required three years of concrete being pumped into the earth to make it hard enough to tunnel through!

They also froze a section of ground temporarily to enable an existing underground train station to be reinforced above the roadway.

Summary:
Leadership then is: having the ability to communicate a vision that you are passionate about, to such a level that others join you.
